THROMBOSIS
Every hour 11 people will suffer from thrombosis: a blood clot that fully or partially obstructs blood flow in a vein. Depending on where the clot is located, thrombosis can have disastrous consequences for your health. A clot in your lungs can cause a pulmonary embolism, and a clot in your brain can even cause an ischaemic stroke. Every day just about 40 people in the Netherlands die from the consequences of thrombosis. How do we ensure that thrombosis will become a smaller risk for people? How can we prevent it?
